VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1203, C1270

DTC Code DTC Name
C1203 ECM Communication Circuit Malfunction
C1270 Initialization Incomplete (Test Mode DTC)

DESCRIPTION

If the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) is replaced or if the memory is cleared, system information such as the destination or vehicle type will be unconfirmed. After switching to Test Mode, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) performs initialization when starting communication with the vehicle, and stores the system information in 2 or 3 seconds.

DTC C1270 will be cleared when the initialization is completed normally or when Test Mode ends. DTC C1270 is output only in Test Mode.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1203
  • Engine, drive source and destination information sent from the ECM does not match the information of the skid control ECU or there is no information in memory.

  • The presence or absence of the front steering control ECU (VGRS ECU) does not match the information stored in the skid control ECU.

  • The presence or absence of the rear steering control ECU (DRS ECU) does not match the information stored in the skid control ECU.

  • Incorrect ECM installed, or ECM malfunction

  • Incorrect front steering control ECU (VGRS ECU) installed, or ECU malfunction

  • Incorrect rear steering control ECU (DRS ECU) installed, or ECU malfunction

  • Skid Control ECU (Brake actuator assembly)

C1270 Detected only during Test Mode.
  • ECM

  • Front steering control ECU (VGRS ECU)

  • Rear steering control ECU (DRS ECU)

  • CAN communication system (Skid control ECU to ECM, front steering control ECU (VGRS ECU) or rear steering control ECU (DRS ECU))

  • Skid control ECU (Brake actuator assembly)

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration and store system information Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK PART NUMBER (ECM)

    1. Check that the part number of the installed ECM is correct.

      OK
ECM installed in the vehicle has the correct part number.

  2. CHECK PART NUMBER (FRONT STEERING CONTROL ECU [VGRS ECU])

    1. For vehicles with the VGRS system, check that the part number of the installed front steering control ECU (VGRS ECU) is correct. For vehicles without the VGRS system, make sure that a front steering control ECU (VGRS ECU) is not installed.

      OK
The presence or absence of the front steering control ECU (VGRS ECU) appropriately matches the specifications of the vehicle.
    2. Check if the front steering control ECU (VGRS ECU) had been replaced before the DTC was stored.

      OK
      ECU had not been replaced.

  3. CHECK PART NUMBER (REAR STEERING CONTROL ECU [DRS ECU])

    1. For vehicles with the DRS system, check that the part number of the installed rear steering control ECU (DRS ECU) is correct. For vehicles without the DRS system, make sure that a rear steering control ECU (DRS ECU) is not installed.

      OK
The presence or absence of the rear steering control ECU (DRS ECU) appropriately matches the specifications of the vehicle.
    2. Check if the rear steering control ECU (DRS ECU) had been replaced before the DTC was stored.

      OK
      ECU had not been replaced.
