FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER (for 2WD) REMOVAL

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. SEPARATE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE

    1. A01FHYR

Remove the 2 bolts and separate the skid control sensor wire from the front shock absorber with coil spring.

      Note

Be careful not to deform the bracket of the front shock absorber with coil spring when removing the bolt.

  3. SEPARATE FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY

    1. A01FGVA

Remove the clip and castle nut.

    2. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer B) to the front suspension upper arm assembly so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm (0.0394 in.) between the arm and spacers.

      Note

      • Be sure to install the spacers (SST spacer B) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift.

      • As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not less than 1 mm (0.0394 in.).

    3. Using SST, separate the front suspension upper arm from the steering knuckle.

      CAUTION:

Apply grease to the threads and end of the SST bolt.

      Note

      • Do not damage the dust cover.

      • As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and claw are parallel.

      • Be sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.

  4. REMOVE UPPER SHOCK ABSORBER CAP (w/ AVS)

    1. A01FDGN

Remove the 3 nuts and upper shock absorber cap.

    2. Disconnect the connector.

  5. REMOVE ABSORBER CONTROL ACTUATOR (w/ AVS)

    1. Turn the absorber control actuator counterclockwise 40° to remove it from the front shock absorber with coil spring.

  6. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING

    1. A01FEJNE01

Support the front suspension lower arm with a jack. Be sure to place a wooden block between the jack and the front suspension lower arm to avoid damage.

    2. Loosen the bolt while holding the nut. Separate the lower part of the front shock absorber from the front suspension lower arm.

      Note

      Do not remove the nut.

    3. A01FIOD

Loosen the lock nut of the front shock absorber.

      Note

      • Do not remove the lock nut.

      • Loosen the lock nut only when disassembling the front shock absorber with coil spring.

    4. A01FGFD

Remove the 3 nuts from the upper side of the front suspension support.

    5. Slowly lower the jack. Remove the bolt from the lower side to remove the front shock absorber with coil spring.

  7. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

    1. A01FFUEE01

Install the SST to the front coil spring so that the 2 hooks on the SST are fully extended.

    2. Fully compress the coil spring with the SST.

      Note

Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.

      Tech Tips

The front coil spring can also be installed/removed using the hydraulic spring compressor.

    3. Remove the lock nut.

    4. Remove the actuator support bracket. (w/ AVS)

    5. Remove the front suspension support sub-assembly with front coil spring insulator upper.

      1. Remove the front coil spring insulator upper from the front suspension support sub-assembly.

      2. Remove the front spring bumper from the front suspension support sub-assembly.

    6. Remove the front coil spring and SST.

      Note

Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.

    7. Remove the front coil spring lower insulator.
