FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY DISASSEMBLY

Note


  • When using a vise, place aluminum plates between the part and vise.

  • When using a vise, do not overtighten it.


  1. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the front No. 2 axle inboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

  2. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  3. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the front No. 2 axle inboard joint boot clamp LH.

  4. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  5. DISCONNECT INBOARD JOINT BOOT


    1. Disconnect the inboard joint boot from the front drive inboard joint assembly.

  6. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Remove any old grease from the front drive inboard joint assembly LH.

      Put matchmarks on the front drive inboard joint assembly LH and front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

      Note

      Do not use a punch to make the matchmarks.

    3. Remove the front drive inboard joint assembly LH from the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the front drive inner shaft inner shaft snap ring LH.

      Put matchmarks on the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH and tripod joint.

      Note

      Do not use a punch to make the matchmarks.

    6. Using a brass bar and a hammer, remove the tripod joint from the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

      Note

      Do not tap the roller.

  7. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY RH

  8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

      Using pliers, remove the front No. 2 axle outboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.

  9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  10. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

  11. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

  12. REMOVE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT


    1. Remove the outboard joint boot from the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly.

    2. Remove any old grease from the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly.

  13. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH

      Using a screwdriver, remove the front drive shaft hole snap ring LH.

  14. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER LH


    1. A01FFPUE01

      Using SST and a press, remove the front drive shaft dust cover LH.

      Note

      Be careful not to drop the inboard joint assembly.

  15. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BEARING

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the front drive shaft hole snap ring RH.

    2. A01FDJTE01

      Using SST and a press, remove the front drive shaft bearing.

      Note

      Be careful not to drop the inboard joint assembly.

  16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR LH

      Using a screwdriver and hammer, remove the front No. 1 wheel bearing dust deflector LH.

  17. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR RH
