AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONT-LIGHTING SYSTEM) AFS OFF Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the headlight swivel main switch is pushed (ON), the AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) will cancel the intelligent AFS control and turn on the AFS OFF indicator light.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / AFS / Data List.

    5. Read the display on the intelligent tester.

      ON: Headlight swivel main switch pushed

      OFF: Headlight swivel main switch not pushed

  2. INSPECT HEADLIGHT SWIVEL MAIN SWITCH


    1. Remove the headlight swivel main switch Click here.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      6 - 3 Not pushed (OFF) 10 kΩ or higher
      Pushed (ON) Below 1 Ω

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT SWIVEL MAIN SWITCH - AFS ECU)


    1. Disconnect the A35 AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the I8 headlight swivel main switch connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A35-32 (MSW) - I8-6 Always Below 1 Ω
      A35-32 (MSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT SWIVEL MAIN SWITCH - BODY GROUND)


    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I8-3 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
