REAR SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

CAUTION:


  • Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seat frame and adjuster may injure your hands.

  • If the side airbag was deployed, replace the rear seat airbag assembly, rear seatback frame sub-assembly, separate type rear seatback pad and separate type rear seatback cover with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage Click here.

Tech Tips

Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Click here.

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the hook of the seat cushion from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

      Standard Measurement
      a 100 mm (3.94 in.) or less

      Note

      Follow the instructions below carefully as the cushion frame can be deformed easily.


      1. Choose a hook to detach first. Place your hands near the hook as shown in the illustration. Then lift the seat cushion to detach the hook.

      2. Repeat the step above for the other hook.

    2. w/ Seat Heater System:


      1. Disconnect the 2 seat heater connectors.

    3. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly.

  5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION LOCK HOOK

      Disengage the claw and remove the rear seat cushion lock hook.

      Note

      Rear seat cushion lock hooks must not be reused.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  6. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK COVER

      Disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 rear seatback covers.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  7. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY


    1. w/ Rear Seat Side Airbag:


      1. Disconnect each connector and clamp from the child restraint seat anchor bracket sub-assembly LH.

    2. Disengage the 2 rear seat belts from the 2 rear seat shoulder belt guides.

    3. A01EVHV

      Disengage the 2 hooks and disconnect the cover.

    4. Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and rear seatback assembly LH.

  8. REMOVE REAR SEAT CENTER SHOULDER BELT GUIDE (for LH Side)


    1. A01EW35

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Disengage the guide and remove the rear seat center shoulder belt guide.

  9. REMOVE REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT GUIDE


    1. A01EUZN

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Disengage the guide and remove the rear seat shoulder belt guide LH.

  10. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE REAR SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD


    1. A01ESXL

      Disengage each hooks.

    2. Remove the 12 hog rings.

    3. w/ Rear Seat Side Airbag:


      1. A01EW7T

        Remove the nut and separate the airbag bracket.

    4. A01EXRE

      Disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 rear seat headrest supports.

    5. w/ Seat Heater System:


      1. Disengage the clamp to disconnect the seat heater wire harness from the rear seatback frame sub-assembly LH.

    6. Remove the separate type rear seatback cover with pad from the rear seatback frame sub-assembly LH.

  11. REMOVE REAR SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. A01EYTQ

      Disengage the 2 clamps.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts and rear seat airbag assembly.

      CAUTION:


      • The nuts must not be reused.

      • Make sure that the rear seatback frame sub-assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
