FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

INSPECT FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle not Involved in Collision)

1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

   for Separate Type Yaw Rate Sensor: Click here

   for Built-in Type Yaw Rate Sensor: Click here

2. Visually check for defects with the front seat airbag assemblies installed on the vehicle.

   Tech Tips

   The defects are as follows:

   
   

   • Cuts on the front seatback assembly around the front seat airbag assemblies

   • Small cracks on the front seatback assembly around the front seat airbag assemblies

   • Significant discoloration on the front seatback assembly around the front seat airbag assemblies

   OK
   No defects are found.

   If any of the defects is found, replace the separate type front seatback pad or separate type front seatback cover with a new one.

INSPECT FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Airbag not Deployed)

1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

   for Built-in Type Yaw Rate Sensor: Click here

2. Visually check for defects with the front seat airbag assemblies removed from the vehicle.

   Tech Tips

   The defects are as follows:

   
   

   • Make sure that there are no scratches, broken or frayed threads on the surface of the front seat airbag assemblies base fabric

   • Marks from being dropped

   • Deformation on the installation part of the front seat airbag assemblies

   • Cracks or other damage to the wire harness or connector

   OK
   No defects are found.

   If any of the defects is found, replace the front seat airbag assembly with a new one.
