DIFFERENTIAL OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT


  1. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID


    1. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.

    2. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, install a new gasket and the drain plug.

      Torque:
      49 N*m  { 500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf }
  2. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL SIDE BEARING RETAINER OIL SEAL


    1. A01ETW2E04

      Using SST, remove the differential side bearing retainer oil seal.

  4. REMOVE DRIVE SHAFT BEARING BRACKET


    1. A01EXVW

      Remove the 3 bolts and drive shaft bearing bracket.

  5. REMOVE TRANSAXLE HOUSING OIL SEAL


    1. A01EUYIE04

      Using SST, remove the transaxle housing oil seal.

  6. INSTALL TRANSAXLE HOUSING OIL SEAL


    1. A01EW1AE01

      Using SST and a hammer, install a new transaxle housing oil seal.

      09316-60011   ( 09316-00011 )
      Standard depth
      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Note

      Do not damage the oil seal lip.

    2. Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.

  7. INSTALL DRIVE SHAFT BEARING BRACKET


    1. Install the drive shaft bearing bracket with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      64 N*m  { 650 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf }
  8. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL SIDE BEARING RETAINER OIL SEAL


    1. A01ET0DE01

      Using SST and a hammer, install a new differential side bearing retainer oil seal.

      09649-17010
      09950-70010   ( 09951-07150 )
      Standard depth
      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Note

      Do not damage the oil seal lip.

    2. Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.

  9. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH


    1. Install a new front drive shaft hole snap ring LH.

      Note

      Face the end gap of the front drive shaft hole snap ring downward.

  10. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  11. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

  12. INSPECT TRANSAXLE FLUID LEVEL

    Tech Tips

    Drive the vehicle so that the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature.

    Fluid temperature
    70 to 80°C (158 to 176°F)

      Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.

    2. With the engine idling and the brake pedal depressed, move the shift lever to all positions from P to L. Then return it to P.

    3. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean.

    4. Push the dipstick back fully into the pipe.

    5. Pull the dipstick out again and check that the fluid level is within the HOT range. If the fluid level is below the HOT range, add new fluid and recheck the fluid level. If the fluid level exceeds the HOT range, drain the fluid once, add a proper amount of new fluid and recheck the fluid level.
