LUBRICATION SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL


    1. Warm up and stop the engine, then wait for 5 minutes.

    2. Check that the engine oil level is between the low level and full level mark on the engine oil level dipstick.

      If the level is low, check for leaks and add engine oil up to the full level mark.

      Note

      Do not fill the engine with engine oil to above the full level mark.

  2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY


    1. Check the engine oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloration or thinning.

      If the quality is visibly poor, replace the engine oil and oil filter sub-assembly.

  3. CHECK OIL PRESSURE


    1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch assembly Click here.

      Install an oil pressure gauge with the adapter.

    3. Install the air cleaner case sub-assembly Click here.

    4. Install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly Click here.

    5. Warm up the engine.

    6. Measure the engine oil pressure.

      Standard Oil Pressure
      Condition Specified Condition
      Idle

      29 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.2 psi) or more

      3000 rpm

      170 to 300 kPa (1.7 to 3.1 kgf/cm2, 25 to 44 psi)

      If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump assembly Click here.

    7. Stop the engine.

    8. Remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly Click here.

    9. Remove the air cleaner case sub-assembly Click here.

    10. Remove the oil pressure gauge with the adapter.

    11. Install the engine oil pressure switch assembly Click here.

    12. Check for engine oil leaks.
