WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM Front Wiper Motor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The windshield wiper relay assembly controls the windshield wiper motor assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. for LHD:

      
      

      1. Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly Click here.

      2.

         *a	Component without harness connected (Windshield Wiper Motor Assembly)

         Check low speed operation.

         Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal B1-5 (+1)*1 or A29-5 (+1)*2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal B1-4 (E)*1 or A29-4 (E)*2, and check that the motor operates at low speed.

         OK
         Motor operates at low speed.

      3. Check high speed operation.

         Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal B1-3 (+2)*1 or A29-3 (+2)*2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal B1-4 (E)*1 or A29-4 (E)*2, and check that the motor operates at high speed.

         OK
         Motor operates at high speed.

      3. Check high speed operation.

         Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal B1-4 (+2) and a negative (-) lead to terminal B1-5 (E), and check that the motor operates at high speed.

         OK
         Motor operates at high speed.

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

         Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard Voltage
         TMC Made Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition B1-2 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
         TMMR Made Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition A29-2 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard Resistance
         TMC Made Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition B1-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
         TMMR Made Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A29-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY - WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY)

      1. Disconnect the I72 windshield wiper relay assembly connector and I32 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard Resistance
         TMC Made Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition B1-5 (+1) - I32-3 (+1) Always Below 1 Ω B1-5 (+1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher B1-3 (+2) - I72-11 (+2) Always Below 1 Ω B1-3 (+2) - I32-4 (+2) Always Below 1 Ω B1-3 (+2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher B1-1 (+S) - I72-1 (+SM) Always Below 1 Ω B1-1 (+S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
