SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK


  1. INSPECT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. When the driver seat belt is not fastened without the front passenger seat occupied, check that the driver side and front passenger side seat belt warning light in the combination meter assembly blinks.*1

    3. When the driver seat belt is not fastened, check that the driver side seat belt warning light in the combination meter assembly blinks.*2

    4. When the driver seat belt is fastened, check that the driver side (and front passenger side*1) seat belt warning light in the combination meter turns off.

  2. INSPECT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. When the driver seat belt is fastened and the front passenger side seat belt is not fastened with the front passenger seat occupied, check that the driver side and front passenger side seat belt warning light in the combination meter assembly blinks.

    3. When the driver seat belt and the front passenger seat belt is fastened with the front passenger seat occupied, check that the driver side and front passenger side seat belt warning light in the combination meter assembly turns off.

  3. INSPECT REAR SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. When a rear door is opened and closed (the rear door courtesy light switch turns on and off), check that the rear seat belt warning light in the telltale light assembly turns on.

    3. When a rear door is opened and closed (the rear door courtesy light switch turns on and off) and a rear seat belt is fastened or unfastened, check that the rear seat belt warning light in the telltale light assembly changes to inform the driver of the current rear seat belt condition.

  4. INSPECT SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER

    1. Lift up the vehicle using a swing arm type lift Click here.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Place a weight of 20 kg (44.0 lb) on the front passenger seat.

      Note

      Place the weight on the seat cushion and do not allow it to come into contact with the seatback.

    4. Open and close a rear door (the rear door courtesy light switch turns on and off).


      • When the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more while the driver, front passenger or a rear seat belt is not fastened, check that the buzzer in the combination meter sounds at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 30 seconds, and then sounds at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 90 seconds.*1

      • When the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more while the driver seat belt is not fastened, check that the buzzer in the combination meter sounds once, after an elapsed time of 30 seconds, the buzzer sounds at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 30 seconds and then sounds at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 90 seconds.*2

    6. Check that the buzzer stops 2 minutes after the buzzer starts sounding.

    7. After the buzzer stops, turn the ignition switch off and then start the engine again. Then drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more while the driver or front passenger seat belt is not fastened, and check that the buzzer sounds again.

    8. After the buzzer stops, open and close a rear door. Then drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more while a rear seat belt is not fastened and check that the buzzer sounds again.

    9. After the buzzer stops, fasten the driver, front passenger and rear seat belts. Drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more and unfasten the driver, front passenger or a rear seat belt, and then check that the buzzer sounds again.

    10. After the buzzer stops, move the shift lever to R, and then move it to D. Drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12.5 mph) or more, and then check that the buzzer sounds again.

  5. INSPECT SEAT BELT INFORMATION LIGHT


    1. When the ignition switch is turned from off to ON, check that the seat belt information light in the combination meter assembly blinks at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 10 seconds.

    2. When any door is opened and closed (the any door courtesy light switch turns on and off) with the ignition switch ON, check that the seat belt information light in the combination meter assembly blinks at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 10 seconds.

    3. Check that the seat belt information light turns off 10 seconds after the light starts blinking.
