KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle not Involved in Collision)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check Click here.

    2. With the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects, such as those mentioned below, replace the instrument panel with a new one:

      Any cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the instrument panel around the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

  2. INSPECT LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Airbag not Deployed)

    CAUTION:

    For the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly removal and installation procedures, see pages and Click here, and carefully follow the correct procedure.


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check Click here.

    2. With the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects, such as those mentioned below, replace the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, instrument panel or instrument panel reinforcement with new ones:


      • Any cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.


      • Any cracks or other damage to the connector.


      • Deformation or cracks on the instrument panel or instrument panel reinforcement.
