STEERING PAD INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL STEERING PAD

    *1 Airbag Connector
    *2 Locking Button
    *3 Horn Connector

    1. Confirm that the ignition switch is turned off.

    2. Confirm that the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal is disconnected.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Connect the airbag connector to the steering pad.

      Note


      • Do not damage the airbag wire harness when connecting the airbag connector.

      • Securely lock the locking button.

    4. Connect the horn connector.

      *2 Snap Ring

      Engage the 3 pins with the 3 snap rings to install the steering pad.

      Note

      Pull the steering pad to ensure that it is securely engaged.

  2. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER


    1. Engage the 2 claws and install the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Torque:
    5.4 N*m  { 55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf }
  4. INSPECT STEERING PAD


    1. With the steering pad installed to the vehicle, perform a visual check. if there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad with a new one: Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the top surface of the steering pad or in the grooved portion.

    2. Make sure that the horn sounds. If the horn does not sound, inspect the horn system.
