Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, disengage the 2 claws and remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.
REMOVE STEERING PAD
Confirm that the ignition switch is turned off.
Confirm that the cable is disconnected from the negative battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, push in the 3 snap rings to disengage it from the 3 pins.

Note
Lightly hold the steering pad to prevent it from falling.
Pull out the steering pad from the steering wheel assembly.
Note
When removing the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
Disconnect the horn connector.
Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the locking button.
Disconnect the airbag connector and remove the steering pad.
Note
When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
