DESCRIPTION

for DTC B1620/21:

The side airbag sensor RH consists of the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.

If the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

DTC B1620/21 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor RH circuit.

for DTC B1622/81:

The circuit for the side collision sensor RH (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag (RH side) and curtain shield airbag (RH side)) is composed of the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH.

The side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH detect impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.

DTC B1622/81 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the circuit for the side collision sensor RH (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag (RH side) and curtain shield airbag (RH side)).

When one of following condition is met:


  • Center airbag sensor assembly detects open circuit signal in side airbag sensor RH circuit for 2 seconds.

  • Side airbag sensor RH malfunction

  • Center airbag sensor assembly malfunction

  • Center airbag sensor assembly

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the side airbag sensor RH with the side airbag sensor LH and connect the connectors to them.

    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    7. Turn the ignition switch off.

    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs Click here.
