THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The hood lock assembly (engine hood courtesy switch) is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns off when the engine hood is opened and turns on when the engine hood is closed.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

    5. According to the display on the intelligent tester, read the Data List.

      ON: Engine hood closed

      OFF: Engine hood open

      The indicator on the intelligent tester switches between ON and OFF in accordance with the engine hood courtesy switch status.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the A32 hood lock assembly (engine hood courtesy switch) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A32-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU)


    1. Disconnect the F77 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A32-2 - F77-5 (HCTY) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A32-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
