REAR VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION


  1. GENERAL


    1. To assist the driver with parking the vehicle by displaying an image of the area behind the vehicle, this system has a television camera mounted on the back door. The system displays the image on the radio and display assembly.

    2. This system consists of the following components:


      1. Radio and display assembly

      2. Rear television camera assembly

      3. ECM

      4. TCM*

  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS


    1. The radio and display assembly controls the system by using information from the following components:

      Item Function
      Rear Television Camera Assembly

      • Mounted on the back door to transmit an image of the area behind the vehicle to the radio and display assembly.

      • Has a color video camera that uses a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) and a wide-angle lens.
      Radio and Display Assembly

      • Receives video signals, which contain images of the area behind the vehicle taken with the rear television camera assembly.

      • Performs control of the system by receiving the shift position signal from ECM*1 or TCM*2 via CAN communication.

      • Displays the rear view monitor image on the display panel.
      ECM*1 Transmits the shift position signal to the radio and display assembly via CAN communication.
      TCM*2 Transmits the gear position signal to the radio and display assembly via CAN communication.

  3. OPERATION EXPLANATION


    1. The radio and display assembly receives the reverse shift position signal when the shift lever is moved to R. After receiving the reverse shift position signal, the radio and display assembly switches from except the rear view monitor system to the rear view monitor system.
