NAVIGATION SYSTEM Speaker Circuit

DESCRIPTION

If there is a short in this circuit, the radio and display receiver detects it and stops output to the speakers.

Thus sound cannot be heard from the speakers even if there is no malfunction in the radio and display receiver or speakers.

If a short is detected in the speaker circuit, no sound can be heard from the speakers.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK SPEAKER (OPERATION CHECK)

    1. A005GM1

Enter the "System Check Mode" screen. Refer to Check Speaker in Operation Check Click here.

    2. Perform the operation check above and determine the speaker that is not operating.

      Result
      Not Operating Speaker Proceed to
Front No. 1 speaker assembly or front No. 2 speaker assembly A
      Rear speaker assembly B

      Tech Tips

If sound cannot be heard from any speaker, inspect all of them.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER)

    1. Disconnect the F45 radio and display receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the H8 and G8 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.

    3. Disconnect the H9 and G9 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.

    4. Measure the resistance between each front No. 2 speaker assembly and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F45-2 (FL+) - H9-4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F45-6 (FL-) - H9-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
      F45-1 (FR+) - G9-4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F45-5 (FR-) - G9-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between each front No. 1 speaker assembly and front No. 2 speaker to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H9-3 (TWL+) - H8-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      H9-1 (TWL-) - H8-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      G9-3 (TWR+) - G8-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      G9-1 (TWR-) - G8-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Measure the resistance between each speaker assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
H8-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
H8-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
G8-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
G8-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

    1. Inspect the front No. 1 speaker assembly Click here.

      Tech Tips

The speaker should not be removed to check resistance.

    OK
  4. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when another speaker in good condition is installed.

      OK
      Malfunction disappears.

      Tech Tips

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speakers.

      • If there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.

      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - REAR SPEAKER)

    1. Disconnect the F46 radio and display receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the J4 and I4 rear speaker assembly connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance between each rear speaker assembly and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F46-2 (RL+) - J4-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      F46-6 (RL-) - J4-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      F46-1 (RR+) - I4-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      F46-3 (RR-) - I4-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between each speaker assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.
