AUDIO AND VISUAL SYSTEM(for Radio and Display Type) Speaker Circuit

DESCRIPTION

If there is a short in a speaker circuit, the radio and display receiver assembly detects it and stops output to the speakers.

Thus sound cannot be heard from the speakers even if there is no malfunction in the radio and display receiver assembly or speakers.

If a short is detected in a speaker circuit, no sound can be heard from the speakers.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK SPEAKER (OPERATION CHECK)

    1. A005GM1

Enter the "System Check Mode" screen. Refer to Check Speaker in Operation Check Click here.

    2. Perform the operation check above and determine the speaker that is not operating.

      Result
      Not Operating Speaker Proceed to
Front No. 1 speaker assembly or front No. 2 speaker assembly A
      Rear speaker assembly B

      Tech Tips

If sound cannot be heard from any speaker, inspect all of them.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER)

    1. Disconnect the F45 radio and display receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the H8 and G8 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.

    3. Disconnect the H9 and G9 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.

    4. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F45-1 (FR+) - G9-4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F45-5 (FR-) - G9-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
      F45-2 (FL+) - H9-4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F45-6 (FL-) - H9-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and the front No. 2 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G9-3 (TWR+) - G8-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      G9-1 (TWR-) - G8-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      H9-3 (TWL+) - H8-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      H9-1 (TWL-) - H8-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Measure the resistance between the radio and display receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
F45-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
F45-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
F45-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
F45-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
G9-3 (TWR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
G9-1 (TWR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
H9-3 (TWL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
H9-1 (TWL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      *a

      Component without harness connected

      (Front No. 1 Speaker Assembly)

      *b for RH
      *c for LH

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G8-1 - G8-2 Always 4 Ω
      H8-1 - H8-2 Always 4 Ω

    OK
  4. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed Click here.

      OK
      Malfunction disappears.

      Tech Tips

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.

      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.

      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER - REAR SPEAKER)

    1. Disconnect the F46 radio and display receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the J4 and I4 rear speaker assembly connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
