STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD

    Click here

  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and the steering main shaft.

    3. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      SST
      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (center bolt) before use.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (w/o Steering Pad Switch)


    1. A005HBB

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Disengage the 4 claws and 4 guides and remove the No. 1 steering wheel ornament from the steering wheel assembly.

  7. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Pad Switch)


    1. w/o Shift Paddle Switch:


      1. A005L7D

        Remove the 2 screws.

      2. Disengage the clamp from the steering wheel assembly. (w/ Telephone)

      3. Disengage the 4 claws and 4 guides and remove the steering pad switch assembly from the steering wheel assembly.

    2. w/ Shift Paddle Switch:


      1. A005KR7

        Disconnect the connector from the No. 1 switch wire.

      2. Disengage the clamp from the steering wheel assembly.

      3. Remove the 2 screws.

      4. Disengage the 4 claws and 4 guides and remove the steering pad switch assembly from the steering wheel assembly.

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH WIRE (w/ Shift Paddle Switch)


    1. A005IS7

      Disengage the clamp from the steering wheel assembly.

    2. Disconnect the connector from the No. 1 switch wire and remove the No. 2 switch wire.

  9. REMOVE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) (w/ Shift Paddle Switch)

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE (w/ Shift Paddle Switch)

  11. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL LOWER BOSS COVER

      Disengage the 4 claws and remove the steering wheel lower boss cover.
