PARKING BRAKE CABLE(for Rear Drum Brake) INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the parking brake cable onto the backing plate with the bolt.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

    2. Install cable clamp B onto the rear axle beam.

      Note

      Securely install the clamp.

      Tech Tips

      When reusing the parking brake cable assembly, replace cable clamp B with a new part.

    3. Tighten the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

    4. Pass the parking brake cable through a new cable clamp A, and then install cable clamp A onto the stud bolt.

      Note

      Securely install the clamp.

  2. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  3. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE INTERMEDIATE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Pedal Type Parking Brake)


    1. Install the parking brake intermediate lever sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      20 N*m  { 204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER (for Pedal Type Parking Brake)


    1. Connect the parking brake equalizer to the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly and No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

    2. Connect the parking brake equalizer to the parking brake intermediate lever sub-assembly with the lock nut and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Bend the parking brake pedal claw to hold the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

    2. Install a new clip to the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

    3. A005KQTE01

      Temporarily install the No. 2 wire adjusting nut and lock nut.

      Dimension A
      16.5 to 19.5 mm (0.650 to 0.768 in.)

      Tech Tips

      After adjusting parking brake pedal travel, tighten the lock nut.

  6. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Pedal Type Parking Brake)

  8. INSTALL REAR BRAKE SHOE KIT

  9. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY

  10. ADJUST REAR DRUM BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE

  11. INSTALL REAR WHEELS

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
