DESCRIPTION

The power steering ECU assembly supplies the current to the power steering motor through the motor circuit.

  1. INSPECT POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY

      Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      z5-1 (M1) - A42-2 (PGND)

      Ignition switch ON

      Steering wheel turned to right

      11 to 14 V

      Ignition switch ON

      steering wheel turned to left

      6 to 11 V
      z5-2 (M2) - A42-2 (PGND)

      Ignition switch ON

      Steering wheel turned to right

      6 to 11 V

      Ignition switch ON

      steering wheel turned to left

      11 to 14 V

  2. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (POWER STEERING MOTOR)

      Disconnect the z5 power steering ECU assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      z5-1 (M1) - z5-2 (M2) Always 0.08 to 0.15 Ω
      z5-1 (M1) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      z5-2 (M2) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
