VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1436

DTC Code DTC Name
C1436 Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The brake actuator assembly (skid control ECU) receives signals from the center airbag sensor assembly via the CAN communication system.

The center airbag sensor assembly has a built-in deceleration sensor and detects the vehicle's condition using 2 circuits (GL1, GL2).

If there is trouble in the bus lines between the center airbag sensor assembly and the CAN communication system, DTCs U0124 (Lost Communication with Lateral Acceleration Sensor Module) are set.

These DTCs are also output when calibration has not been completed.

DTC NO. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1436

Either of the following is detected:

  1. With the vehicle stationary, the yaw rate and deceleration sensor output value is not 0 deg/s.

  2. Abnormal comparison value.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

  • When replacing the deceleration sensor, be sure to perform deceleration sensor 0 point calibration and CVT oil pressure calibration after performing AT/CVT learned values initialization.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

Tech Tips

When U0124 and/or U0126 is output together with C1436, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0124 and/or U0126 first Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (YAW RATE SENSOR)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

      ABS/VSC/TRC
Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Yaw Rate Sensor Yaw rate sensor/min.: -128 °/s, max.: 127 °/s

      Vehicle stationary: 0 °/s

      Right turn: -128 to 0 °/s

      Left turn: 0 to 127 °/s

      -
    4. Check that the center airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate sensor) output value displayed on the intelligent tester.

  2. CHECK CENTER AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (YAW RATE SENSOR) INSTALLATION

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Check that the center airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate sensor) has been installed properly Click here.

      OK
The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor should not be installed in a tilted position.
