FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY(for 1NZ-FE) DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP


    1. One touch type:


      1. A005GUJ

        Using a screwdriver, release the staked part of the boot clamp and separate the boot clamp.

        Tech Tips

        Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

    2. Claw engagement type:


      1. A005JV3

        Using needle-nose pliers, disengage the 2 claws and remove the boot clamp.

        Tech Tips

        Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  2. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP


    1. One touch type:


      1. A005LCL

        Using a screwdriver, release the staked part of the boot clamp and separate the boot clamp.

        Tech Tips

        Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

    2. Claw engagement type:


      1. A005GH0

        Using needle-nose pliers, disengage the 2 claws and remove the boot clamp.

        Tech Tips

        Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  3. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT


    1. Separate the inboard joint boot from the inboard joint.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the old grease from the inboard joint.

      *a Matchmark

      Place matchmarks on the inboard joint and outboard joint shaft.

      Note

      Do not cause any damage when placing the marks.

    3. Remove the inboard joint from the outboard joint shaft.

    4. Fix the outboard joint shaft in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    5. A005IMT

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.

      Place matchmarks on the tripod joint and outboard joint shaft.

      Note

      Do not cause any damage when placing the marks.

    7. Using a brass bar and hammer, remove the tripod joint.

      Note

      Do not tap the rollers.

    8. Remove the front No. 2 axle inboard joint boot clamp, the inboard joint boot and the inboard joint boot clamp.

  5. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER CLAMP LH

    1. One touch type:


      1. Using a screwdriver, release the staked part of the damper clamp and separate the damper clamp.

    2. Claw engagement type:


      1. Using needle-nose pliers, disengage the 2 claws and remove the damper clamp.

    3. Remove the front drive shaft damper from the front axle outboard joint shaft assembly.

  6. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  7. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER LH


    1. Remove the front drive shaft damper LH from the front drive outboard joint shaft assembly LH.

  8. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP


    1. A005JK2

      Using a screwdriver, release the staked part of the boot clamp and remove the boot clamp.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  10. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP


    1. A005IF2

      Using a screwdriver, release the staked part of the boot clamp and remove the boot clamp.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  11. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT


    1. Remove the outboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft.

    2. Remove the old grease from the outboard joint.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  12. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH


    1. A005HRO

      Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring.

  13. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  14. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER


    1. A005KSPE05

      Using SST and a press, remove the dust cover.

      SST
      09950-00020

      Note

      Do not drop the inboard joint.
