DESCRIPTION

The ECM and the engine stop and start ECU transmit and receive data using CAN communication system. The ECM stores a DTC when a communication error occurs between the ECM and the engine stop and start ECU.

  1. The intake air and engine coolant temperatures are more than -10°C (14°F) at engine start, and the vehicle is driven for over 18 minutes and 7 km (4.3 miles) or more.

  2. CVT fluid temperature is less than 20°C (68°F).

  1. The engine coolant temperature is less than 35°C (95°F) at engine start (Engine is not in an automatically stopped state).

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM ROAD TEST


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

      Tech Tips

      Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

    2. Start the engine and drive the vehicle at a low speed.

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (DTC U1103)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs using the GTS.
