CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE SYSTEM DTC CHECK / CLEAR

Note

When the diagnosis system is changed from normal mode to check mode or vice versa, all DTCs and freeze frame data recorded in normal mode are cleared. Before changing modes, always check and make a note of DTCs and freeze frame data.

Tech Tips

  • DTCs which are stored in the ECM can be displayed on the GTS. The GTS can display the current and pending DTCs.

  • Some DTCs are not stored if the ECM does not detect the same malfunction again during a second consecutive driving cycle. However, such malfunctions, detected on only one occasion, are stored as pending DTCs.

  1. CHECK FOR DTC

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    5. Check the DTCs and freeze frame data, and then save or write them down.

    6. Check the details of the DTCs Click here.

      Note

When simulating a symptom with the scan tool to check the DTCs, use normal mode. For DTCs in the Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart, which are subject to 2-trip detection logic, perform the following actions.

Turn the ignition switch off after the symptom is simulated once. Then repeat the simulation process again. When the problem has been simulated twice, the MIL illuminates and the DTCs are recorded in the ECM.

  2. CLEAR DTC (Using GTS)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    5. Clear the DTCs.

  3. CLEAR DTC (Without using GTS)

    1. Perform either of the following operations:

      1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal for more than 1 minute.

      2. Remove the EFI NO. 3 and ETCS fuses from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly, located inside the engine compartment for more than 1 minute.
