SHIFT LEVER INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY (w/o Entry and Start System)

      Front view of wire harness connector:

      (to Shift Lock Control Unit Assembly)

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      6 (ACC) - 1 (E) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      6 (ACC) - 1 (E) Ignition switch ACC 11 to 14 V
      6 (ACC) - 1 (E) Ignition switch off Below 1 V
      4 (STP) - 1 (E) Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V
      4 (STP) - 1 (E) Brake pedal released Below 1 V
      5 (KLS+) - 1 (E) 1. Ignition switch ACC and shift lever in P Below 1 V
      2. Ignition switch ACC and shift lever not in P (Within approx. 1 second) 7.5 to 10.5 V
      3. Ignition switch ACC and shift lever not in P (After approx. 2 seconds) 6 to 9 V
      8 (IG) - 1 (E) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      8 (IG) - 1 (E) Ignition switch off Below 1 V

      Note

      Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector.

      Front view of wire harness connector:

      (to Shift Lock Control Unit Assembly)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Note

      Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.

  2. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY (w/ Entry and Start System)

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      12 (IG) - 3 (E) engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      12 (IG) - 3 (E) engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      6 (STP) - 3 (E) Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V
      6 (STP) - 3 (E) Brake pedal released Below 1 V

      Note

      Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Note

      Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.

  3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH


    1. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector of the shift lock control unit assembly.

      Component without harness connector:

      (Transmission Control Switch)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Shift Position Specified Condition
      1 (NSSD) - 2 (AT3) D and S Below 1 Ω
      1 (NSSD) - 2 (AT3) Except D and S 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (NSSD) - 3 (ATD) Except D and S Below 1 Ω
      1 (NSSD) - 3 (ATD) D and S 10 kΩ or higher

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.

  4. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID


    1. Disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector.

      Component without harness connector:

      (to Shift lock Solenoid)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Shift Position Specified Condition
      4 (P) - 3 (E2) P 10 kΩ or higher
      4 (P) - 3 (E2) Except P Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (SLS+) - 2 (SLS-) Always 112 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.
