  • Continuously variable transaxle assembly

  • ECM

  1. The shift lever is in D, and the vehicle speed is less than 8 km/h (5 mph).

  2. The ratio of the transmission revolution sensor (NIN) speed and the transmission revolution sensor (NOUT) speed exceeds the specified value.

  3. 0.2 seconds or more

  4. 1 trip detection logic

  1. The oil pressure sensor output value is less than 0.35 MPa (3.6 kgf/cm2, 51 psi) and the target gear ratio is 2.0 or more.

  2. The actual gear ratio is less than 1.0.

  3. 1.5 seconds or more

  4. 1 trip detection logic

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The ECM checks for belt clamping high-pressure or low-pressure errors. When a mechanical malfunction is detected at the shift solenoid valve SLS and at the oil pressure sensor, the ECM detects the problem, illuminates the MIL and stores the DTC.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0841 AND P2829)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs using the GTS.

Both of P0841 and P2829 are output A
      Only P0841 is output B
      Only P2829 is output C
      P0841 and/or P2829 and other DTCs are output D

      Tech Tips

If any other DTCs besides P0841 or P2829 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (A/T OIL PRESSURE)

    CAUTION:

The stall speed test should always be performed with at least 2 people. One person should observe the condition of the wheels and wheel chocks while the other is performing the test.

    Note

    • This test must be conducted after checking and confirming that the engine is operating normally.

    • Perform this test while the CVT fluid temperature is between 50 and 100°C (122 and 212°F).

    • Perform the test with the A/C off.

    • Do not perform the stall speed test for longer than 5 seconds.

    1. Fully apply the parking brake and chock the 4 wheels.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Start the engine.

    5. Turn the GTS on.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Connect the TC and TE1.

    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.

    8. In accordance with the display on the GTS, read the Data List.
