MULTI-MODE MANUAL TRANSAXLE SYSTEM Pattern Select Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

While the vehicle is driven with the shift lever in the E position, the most appropriate gear is automatically selected according to the accelerator pedal opening angle and vehicle speed. During this time, shift control can be switched between normal mode (E) and sports mode (Es) by pressing the pattern select switch.

  1. INSPECT TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH)

      Remove the telltale light assembly (pattern select switch) Click here.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      10 (MSW1) - 16 (MSW2) Pattern select switch on Below 1 Ω
      Pattern select switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    OK
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the F21 telltale light assembly (pattern select switch) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F21-16 (MSW2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    OK
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH - TCM)


    1. Disconnect the F68 TCM connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F68-23 (ESSW) - F21-10 (MSW1) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F68-23 (ESSW) - Body ground Pattern select switch on 10 kΩ or higher

    OK
  4. REPLACE TCM
