DESCRIPTION

A005IMNE01

The shift and select actuator is operated by the TCM and changes the transaxle gear by moving the shift and select lever shaft. An electric motor (select motor) moves the shift and select lever shaft in the select direction, and the select stroke sensor, which is mounted on the shift and select actuator assembly, detects the select position. The TCM monitors the electrical current and select motor output terminal voltage, and detects malfunctions in the select motor circuit.

The TCM detects the following conditions:

(1-trip detection logic)


  1. Select motor is not energized.

  2. Voltages of select motor terminal (MSL+ or MSL-) is less than 0.5 V*1, or more than threshold*2 for 0.5 seconds.


  • Shift and select actuator assembly (select motor)

  • Short in select motor circuit

  • TCM

The TCM detects the following conditions:

(1-trip detection logic)


  1. Select motor is energized.

  2. Target select motor current is more than 5A.

  3. Actual select motor current is less than 1A*3.


  • Shift and select actuator assembly (select motor)

  • Open in select motor circuit

  • TCM

The TCM detects the following conditions:

(1-trip detection logic)


  1. Select motor is not energized.

  2. Difference between maximum and minimum voltages of select motor terminal (MSL+ or MSL-) is more than threshold*4 for 0.5 seconds.

Note

In select stroke sensor or shift and select actuator assembly replacement, perform the [Initialization and Learning] procedure (See page ) and [Synchronization Position Calibration] procedure Click here after installing the sensor or actuator assembly. If the sensor or actuator is installed without performing [Initialization and Learning] and [Synchronization Position Calibration], it may cause driving performance degradation or system component breakage.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT SHIFT AND SELECT ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (SELECT MOTOR)

      Component without harness connected

      Disconnect the A49 select motor connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 0.1 to 100 Ω

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT AND SELECT ACTUATOR - TCM)


    1. Disconnect the A48 TCM connector.

    2. Disconnect the B59 select motor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A48-1 (MSL+) - B59-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      A48-2 (MSL-) - B59-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      A48-1 (MSL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A48-2 (MSL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. REPLACE TCM
