DTCs, which are stored in the engine stop and start ECU, can be displayed on the GTS. The GTS can display current and pending DTCs.
Some DTCs are not stored if the engine stop and start ECU does not detect the same malfunction again during the second consecutive driving cycle. However, such malfunctions, detected on only one occasion, are stored as pending DTCs.
Compared to normal mode, check mode is more sensitive to malfunctions. Therefore, check mode can detect malfunctions that cannot be detected in normal mode.
CHECK DTC
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Trouble Codes.
Check for DTC(s), and then save or write them down.

CHECK MODE PROCEDURE
Note
All the stored DTCs and freeze frame data are cleared if: 1) the engine stop and start ECU is switched from normal mode to check mode or vice versa; or 2) the engine switch is turned from on (IG) to on (ACC) or off while in check mode. Before changing modes, always check for and note any DTCs and freeze frame data.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Check Mode.
Switch the engine stop and start ECU from normal mode to check mode.
CLEAR DTC
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Trouble Codes.
Clear the DTCs.
