    Tech Tips

    • *1: Refer to Data List items "Integrated Current" and "Battery Integrated Current" Click here.

    • If the battery terminal has been disconnected, the stop and start will be prohibited. In this case, drive the vehicle for 15 to 40 minutes to permit the stop and start operation.

    • Allow the engine to idle for 3 minutes after the engine warms up and check that the engine speed is within 50 rpm of the target idle speed.

  3. WARNING CONTROL

If any of the following operations are performed while the engine is stopped due to Stop and Start system control, the system will perform the warning control.

    Operation Warning Control
The driver door is opened while the shift lever is in D or M The engine starts, buzzer sounds and stop and start indicator light blinks
The driver door is opened while the shift lever is in P or N The engine starts
The driver seat belt is unfastened The engine starts
The hood is opened while the shift lever is in P or N The engine starts
The hood is opened while the shift lever is in D or M The engine stops (Engine enters stall mode, and recovers after the ignition switch is turned off and then ON.)
  4. Stop and start priority control

The stop and start control system has 2 control modes, normal mode (NORMAL) and stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized).

When the stop and start control is activated, it is possible to switch between different modes by pressing and holding the telltale light assembly (stop and start cancel switch assembly). The engine stop and start computer performs the control based on the selected mode in synchronization with the air conditioning amplifier assembly. If the stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized) is selected, the activation period of stop and start control when the air conditioning is on becomes longer than the normal mode (NORMAL) to improve fuel efficiency.

    Tech Tips

    • If the stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized) is selected, the performance of air conditioning system is affected. If there are complaints from a customer about poor performance of air conditioning system, check the selected mode of the stop and start control system. Click here

    • Depending on the vehicle condition, the activation period of stop and start control may not change even when the stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized) is selected.
