STOP AND START SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P062F

DTC Code DTC Name
P062F Internal Control Module EEPROM Error

DESCRIPTION

The engine stop and start ECU stores the number of starter assembly operations, Information on the air conditioner, and the deceleration sensor 0 point learning results.

In the case where the engine stop and start ECU cannot write the number of starter assembly operations, information on the air conditioner, or the deceleration sensor 0 point learning results, it stores DTC P062F, blinks the stop and start cancel indicator light, and prohibits stop and start control. When the engine stop and start ECU is replaced, the number of starter operations must be recorded before replacement. After replacement, it is necessary for the new engine stop and start ECU to store the number of starter operations, information on the air conditioner, and the deceleration sensor 0 point learning value Click here.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P062F

Either condition is met (1 trip detection logic):

  • When information on the air conditioner cannot be written

  • When the deceleration sensor 0 point learning value cannot be written

  • The number of starter operations was not successfully written to the EEPROM.

Engine stop and start ECU

  1. Check if the Stop and Start system operates normally.

    Tech Tips

If the battery terminal has been disconnected, the stop and start will be prohibited. In this case, drive the vehicle for 15 to 40 minutes to permit the stop and start operation.

    1. for Manual transaxle

      1. Warm up the engine.

      2. Turn the air conditioning system off.

      3. Drive the vehicle at 7 km/h (4.3 mph) or more.

      4. Stop the vehicle. Move the shift lever to neutral and release the clutch pedal.

      5. Check that the engine stops.

      6. Depress the clutch pedal and check that the engine restarts.

    2. for CVT

      1. Warm up the engine.

      2. Turn the air conditioning system off.

      3. Drive the vehicle at 7 km/h (4.3 mph) or more.

      4. Stop the vehicle with the shift lever in D and depressed the brake pedal.

      5. Check that the engine stops.

      6. Release the brake pedal and check that the engine restarts.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

  • If the engine stop and start ECU is being replaced, register the previously recorded number of starter operations into the new engine stop and start ECU Click here.

  • After the engine stop and start ECU is replaced or after an air conditioner kit is installed, clear the A/C information stored in the engine stop and start ECU Click here.

  • After the engine stop and start ECU or airbag sensor assembly (yaw rate sensor) is replaced, initialize and calibrate 0 point of deceleration sensor Click here.

Tech Tips

DTCs for the Stop and Start system are not cleared even if the malfunction has been repaired. After repairing the malfunction, be sure to clear the DTCs (See page ) and check the number of starter operations Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (STARTER OPERATION NUMBER, etc.)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Read the stored number of starter operations.

      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / ECU Exchange.

      2. Following the prompts on the tester display, download the number of starter operations that is stored in the ECU to the tester.

    5. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    6. Clear the number of starter operations.

      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Starter Exchange.

      2. Following the prompts on the tester display, clear the number of starter operations.

    7. Clear the A/C information.

      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Reset A/C Information.

      2. Following the prompts on the tester display, clear the A/C information.

    8. Clear the 0 point calibration data of the deceleration sensor.

      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / Deceleration Sensor Zero Point Calibration.

    NEXT
  2. PERFORM REGISTRATION (A/C INFORMATION AND STARTER OPERATION NUMBER)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Utility / ECU Exchange.

    5. Following the prompts on the tester display, register the number of starter operations and allow the engine stop and start ECU to learn the A/C information and perform 0 point calibration of the deceleration sensor Click here.

      Note

Before clearing the number of starter operations, be sure to record the number since it is necessary to re-register this number in the engine stop and start ECU.

      Tech Tips

The engine stop and start ECU automatically learns the A/C information via CAN (the learning ends after about 5 seconds).

    NEXT
  3. CONFIRM DTC

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
