STARTER DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE HARNESS BRACKET

      Remove the bolt and harness bracket.

  2. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS

      Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    2. Remove the bolt and wire harness.

  3. REMOVE STARTER INRUSH CURRENT REDUCTION RELAY

      Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the wire harness.

    2. Remove the bolt and starter inrush current reduction relay.

  4. REMOVE MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

      Remove the nut and disconnect the wire harness from the magnet starter switch assembly.

    2. A005GPZ

      Remove the 2 nuts from the starter drive housing assembly while holding the magnet starter switch assembly.

    3. A005L8Y

      Pull the magnet starter switch assembly, and while lifting the front part of the magnet starter switch assembly, release the plunger hook from the pinion drive lever to remove the magnet starter switch assembly.

  5. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 through bolts.

    2. A005HID

      Pull out the starter yoke assembly together with the starter commutator end frame assembly.

  6. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY


    1. A005GHP

      Remove the 2 screws from the starter commutator end frame assembly.

    2. A005LVY

      Pull the starter commutator end frame assembly out of the starter yoke assembly.

      Note

      While holding down the lead wire, remove the starter commutator end frame assembly.

  7. REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY


    1. A005IDV

      Using a screwdriver, hold the spring back and disconnect the brush from the starter brush holder assembly.

    2. Disconnect the 4 brushes, and remove the starter brush holder assembly.

  8. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the starter armature assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

  9. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE PLATE

      Remove the starter armature plate from the starter drive housing assembly or the starter yoke assembly.

  10. REMOVE PLANETARY GEAR

      Remove the 3 planetary gears from the planetary carrier.

  11. REMOVE STARTER CENTER BEARING CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *3 Starter Center Bearing Clutch Sub-assembly

      Remove the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly with pinion drive lever from the starter drive housing assembly.

    2. Remove the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly, rubber seal and the pinion drive lever.

      Using a screwdriver, tap in the pinion stop nut toward the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.

    4. A005GN2

      Using a screwdriver, pry off the snap ring.

    5. Remove the pinion stop nut and starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly from the planetary carrier.
