RADIATOR REMOVAL

CAUTION:


  • Be sure that the ignition is off if you work near the electric cooling fans or radiator grille. With the ignition on, the electric cooling fans may automatically start to run if the engine coolant temperature is high and/or the air conditioning is on.

  • Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. DRAIN COOLANT

  2. REMOVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 COOLER COVER

    1. Remove the 2 clips and No. 1 cooler cover.

  4. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. A005IDY

      Separate the hood lock control cable assembly from the 2 clamps.

    2. A005JZR

      Remove the 3 bolts and remove the hood lock assembly.

  5. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR BRACKET

  6. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Confirm that the ignition switch is turned off.

    2. Confirm that the cable is disconnected from the negative battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Confirm that the cable is disconnected from the negative battery terminal before performing the operation. Even an impact to only the airbag sensor will cause the airbag to deploy.

    3. Disconnect the airbag connector.

      Separate the horn assembly connector.

    5. Remove the 4 bolts and remove the upper radiator support sub-assembly.

  7. DISCONNECT RADIATOR RESERVOIR TANK HOSE

    1. Disconnect the radiator reservoir tank hose from the water filler.

  8. REMOVE NO. 3 RADIATOR HOSE

    1. Loosen the 2 clips and remove No. 3 radiator hose.

  9. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE

    1. Loosen the clip and disconnect No. 2 radiator hose.

  10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY

  11. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY


    1. A005MAA

      Separate the cooling fan motor connector and wire harness clamp.

    2. A005HZQ

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the radiator assembly from the vehicle.

      Note

      Do not apply excessive force to the cooler condenser assembly or piping when removing the radiator assembly.

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE

    1. Loosen the clip and remove the No. 2 radiator hose.

  13. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the fan shroud.

  14. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT CUSHION

    1. Remove the 2 radiator support cushions from the radiator assembly.

  15. REMOVE GROMMET

    A005JMD

    1. Remove the 2 grommets from the radiator assembly.

  16. REMOVE RADIATOR DRAIN COCK

    A005LM4

    1. Remove the radiator drain cock from the radiator assembly.
