RADIATOR REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

CAUTION:


  • Be sure that the ignition switch is off if you work near the electric cooling fans or radiator grille. With the ignition switch ON, the electric cooling fans may automatically start if the engine coolant temperature is high or the air conditioning is on.

  • Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

    Click here

  2. REMOVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  3. SEPARATE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. A005IDY

      Detach the 2 clamps and disconnect the hood lock control cable assembly from the upper radiator support.

    2. A005JZR

      Remove the 3 bolts and the hood lock assembly.

  4. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR BRACKET

  5. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT

    1. Confirm that the ignition switch is turned off.

    2. Confirm that the cable is disconnected from the negative battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Confirm that the cable is disconnected from the negative battery terminal before performing the operation. Even an impact to only the airbag sensor will cause the airbag to deploy.

    3. Disconnect the airbag connector.

    4. A005HG0

      Disconnect the horn connector.

    5. Remove the 4 bolts and the upper radiator support.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 COOLER COVER

    1. Remove the 2 clips and remove the No. 1 cooler cover.

  7. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE

    1. Loosen the hose clip and disconnect the No .1 radiator hose from the water filler.

  8. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE

    1. Loosen the hose clip and disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose from the water outlet pipe.

  9. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the cooling fan motor connector and the wire harness clamp.

    2. A005HQ7

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the radiator assembly together with the fan shroud from the vehicle.

      Note

      Do not apply excessive force to the cooler condenser assembly or piping when removing the radiator assembly.

  10. REMOVE FAN SHROUD


    1. A005LD1

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the fan shroud.

  11. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT CUSHION


    1. A005HR2

      Remove the 2 radiator support cushions from the radiator assembly.

  12. REMOVE LOWER RADIATOR SUPPORT GROMMET


    1. A005HCA

      Remove the 2 lower radiator support grommets from the radiator assembly.

  13. REMOVE RADIATOR DRAIN COCK


    1. A005KMM

      Remove the radiator drain cock from the radiator assembly.
