RADIATOR REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

CAUTION:

Be sure that the ignition switch is off if you work near the electric cooling fans or radiator grille. With the ignition switch ON, the electric cooling fans may automatically start if the engine coolant temperature is high or the air conditioning is on.

PROCEDURE


  1. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (w/ Air Conditioning System)

  2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

  3. REMOVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE CENTER ENGINE UNDER COVER

  5. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVE TANK ASSEMBLY

    *1 No. 4 Water By-pass Hose
    *2 No. 5 Water By-pass Hose

    1. Loosen the clip and disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass hose.

    2. Loosen the clip and disconnect the No. 5 water by-pass hose.

    3. Remove the bolt and remove the radiator reserve tank.

  6. REMOVE AIRBAG SENSOR BRACKET

  7. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  8. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE

    1. Loosen the clip and disconnect the No. 1 radiator hose from the radiator assembly.

  9. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE

    1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the clamp.

    2. Loosen the clip and disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose from the radiator assembly.

  10. DISCONNECT NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT DISCHARGE HOSE (w/ Air Conditioning System)

  11. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY A (w/ Air Conditioning System)

  12. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY B (w/ Air Conditioning System)

    1. Remove the bolt.

    2. Disengage the clamp and separate the liquid tube sub-assembly B from the fan shroud.

  13. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Air Conditioning System)

    1. Disconnect the cooling fan motor connector and the wire harness clamp.

    2. A005ISD

      Disengage the hose clamp and separate the No. 5 water by-pass hose from the fan shroud.

    3. A005HEB

      Remove the cooler condenser with radiator assembly from the vehicle.

    4. A005HB9

      Disengage the 2 claws.

    5. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the cooler condenser from the radiator as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the cooler condenser or radiator when removing the cooler condenser.

  14. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY (w/o Air Conditioning System)

    1. Disconnect the cooling fan motor connector and the wire harness clamp.

    2. A005IEW

      Disengage the hose clamp and separate the No. 5 water by-pass hose from the fan shroud.

    3. Remove the radiator assembly from the vehicle.

  15. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

    1. Disengage the 2 claws.

    2. Remove the 2 pawl fittings and the fan shroud.

  16. REMOVE NO. 4 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

    1. Loosen the clip and remove the No. 4 water by-pass hose.

  17. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT CUSHION

    1. Remove the 2 radiator support cushions from the radiator assembly.

  18. REMOVE LOWER RADIATOR SUPPORT GROMMET

    1. Remove the 2 lower radiator support grommets from the radiator assembly.

  19. REMOVE RADIATOR DRAIN COCK PLUG


    1. Remove the radiator drain cock plug.
