EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR


    1. A005M3FE03

      Using a union nut wrench (14 mm), install the 2 exhaust gas temperature sensors.

      Torque:
      30 N*m  { 306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Use the formula to calculate special torque values for situations where a union nut wrench is combined with a torque wrench Click here.

      • Do not damage the sensor.

      • Install the sensor as shown in the illustration.

  2. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install a new gasket onto the turbocharger.

    2. Temporarily install the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly with the 3 new nuts and the bolt.

    3. Fully tighten the 3 new nuts first, and then tighten the bolt.

      Torque:
      Nut
      26 N*m  { 265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }
      Bolt
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }
    4. Engage the 2 harness clamps to the harness bracket.

    5. Install the harness bracket with the bolt.

      Torque:
      9.0 N*m  { 92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf }
    6. Engage the 2 harness clamps to the No. 2 timing chain cover.

    7. Connect the 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor connectors.

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 VACUUM PIPE


    1. Temporarily install the No. 1 vacuum pipe with the bolt and the No. 1 vacuum pipe union nut.

    2. Using a union nut wrench (14 mm), fully tighten the No. 1 vacuum pipe union nut.

      Torque:
      48 N*m  { 489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf }

    3. Fully tighten the bolt.

      Torque:
      21 N*m  { 214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }
  4. INSTALL NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install a new gasket onto the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.

    2. Temporarily install the No. 2 exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly with the 2 nuts.

    3. Temporarily install the No. 3 manifold support bracket with the 3 bolts.

    4. Temporarily install the No. 4 manifold support bracket with the 3 bolts.

    5. Tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }
  5. INSTALL NO. 3 MANIFOLD SUPPORT BRACKET


    1. A005JECE02

      Fully tighten the 3 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }
  6. INSTALL NO. 4 MANIFOLD SUPPORT BRACKET

      Fully tighten the 3 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }
  7. INSTALL DRIVE SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the drive shaft heat insulator sub-assembly with the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 179 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }
  8. INSTALL NO. 2 VACUUM PIPE


    1. Temporarily install the No. 2 vacuum pipe with the 2 bolts and the No. 2 vacuum pipe union nut.

    2. Fully tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      20 N*m  { 204 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf }
    3. Using a union nut wrench (14 mm), fully tighten the No. 1 vacuum pipe union nut.

      Torque:
      30 N*m  { 306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf }

  9. INSTALL VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE ASSEMBLY

      Install the vacuum transmitting hose assembly.

  10. INSTALL NO. 2 VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE ASSEMBLY

      Install the No. 2 vacuum transmitting hose assembly.

  11. INSTALL NO. 1 TURBO INSULATOR


    1. Install the No. 1 turbo insulator with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.0 N*m  { 71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf }
  12. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE COVER BRACKET


    1. Install the No. 2 engine cover bracket, the air fuel ratio sensor bracket and the harness bracket.

      Torque:
      11 N*m  { 112 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf }
    2. Engage the 2 engine wire harness clamps.

    3. Install the air fuel ratio sensor wire harness and engage the 4 wire harness clamps.

    4. Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

  16. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

      Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.

      Minimum length
      43.0 mm (1.693 in.)

      If the length is not as specified, replace the compression spring.

      Using a plastic hammer and a wooden block, tap in a new gasket until its surface is flush with the exhaust manifold.

      Note


      • Install the exhaust pipe gasket in the correct direction.

      • Do not damage the outer surface of the exhaust pipe gasket.

      • Do not reuse the exhaust pipe gasket.

      • Do not push in the gasket with the exhaust pipe when connecting it.

    3. Hang the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 3 exhaust pipe supports.

    4. Install the new gasket onto the front exhaust pipe assembly.

    5. Install the front exhaust pipe assembly to the tail exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      32 N*m  { 326 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not reuse the removed gasket.

    6. Install the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      43 N*m  { 438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf }

  19. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER
