CYLINDER HEAD DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE NO. 1 WITH HEAD TAPER SCREW PLUG


    1. A005GON

      Using a 10 mm (0.39 in.) socket hexagon wrench, remove the taper screw plug and the gasket.

  2. REMOVE VALVE LIFTER


    1. Remove the 16 valve lifters from the cylinder head.

      Tech Tips

      Keep the valve lifters in the correct order so that they can be returned to their original locations when reassembled.

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 WITH HEAD TAPER SCREW PLUG


    1. A005LVU

      Using an 8 mm (0.31 in.) hexagon wrench, remove the taper screw plug.

  4. REMOVE OIL CONTROL VALVE FILTER

  5. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD OIL NOZZLE

  6. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE


    1. A005H81E01

      Using SST, compress the valve spring and remove the 2 retainer locks, retainer and valve spring.

      Tech Tips

      Keep the valves, valve springs, spring seats and spring retainers in the correct order so that they can be returned to their original locations when reassembled.

  7. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE


    1. Using SST, compress the valve spring and remove the 2 retainer locks, retainer and valve spring.

      Keep the valves, valve springs, spring seats and spring retainers in the correct order so that they can be returned to their original locations when reassembled.

  8. REMOVE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL


    1. A005INO

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the oil seal.

  9. REMOVE VALVE SPRING SEAT


    1. A005LSM

      Using compressed air and a magnetic finger, remove the valve spring seats.

  10. REMOVE STUD BOLT

  11. REMOVE CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP SETTING RING PIN
