REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR ENGINE OIL SEAL


    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new oil seal.

      Note

      Keep the lip free of foreign matter.

    2. A005KTDE01
      *1 0 to -1 mm
      *2 (0 to -0.04 in.)

      Using SST and hammer, tap in the oil seal until its surface is flush with the cylinder block and oil pan .

      Note


      • Do not tap the oil seal at an angle.

      • Wipe off extra grease from the crankshaft.

  2. INSTALL DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

      SST
      09960-10010   ( 09962-01000, 09963-01000 )
    2. Clean the bolts and bolt holes.

      Install the front drive plate spacer.

    4. Install the drive plate and rear drive plate spacer onto the crankshaft.

      Tech Tips


      • The front drive plate spacer is reversible.

      • As the drive plate and ring gear and the rear drive plate spacer are not reversible, make sure to install them in the direction as shown in the illustration.

      *1 Adhesive

      Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 end threads at the end of each of the 6 bolts.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three bond 1324 or equivalent
    6. A005M7SE08

      Install and uniformly tighten the 6 bolts in several steps in the sequence shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      88 N*m  { 897 kgf*cm, 65 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not start the engine for at least an hour after installing the drive plate.
