CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Start the engine and warm it up.

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve.


      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT System (Bank 1).

      2. Check the engine speed when the camshaft timing oil control valve is operated using the intelligent tester with the engine coolant temperature at 50°C (122°F) or less.

        Tech Tips


        • When performing the Active Test, the air conditioning should be on.

        • Engine coolant temperature when the engine is started should be 30°C (86°F) or less.

        ON Rough idle or engine stalls (soon after camshaft timing oil control valve switched from OFF to ON)
