THROTTLE BODY INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY


    1. Install a new gasket onto the intake manifold.

    2. Install the throttle with motor body assembly and wire harness bracket with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

    3. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses to the throttle with motor body assembly.

    4. Install the water by-pass hose to the hose clamp.

    5. Connect the throttle with motor body assembly connector.

    6. Engage the wire harness clamp.

  2. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER HOSE

      Install the No. 1 air cleaner hose with the hose clamp.

    2. Connect the ventilation hose with hose clamp.

    3. Install the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly to the No. 1 air cleaner hose.

  3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and lock the 2 clamps.

    2. Tighten the hose clamp.

      Torque:
      3.0 N*m  { 31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf }

    3. Connect the mass air flow meter connector and engage the wire harness.

  4. ADD ENGINE COOLANT

  5. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK

  6. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER

  7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

    Note

    Perform the following procedure after replacing the ECM, throttle with motor body assembly or any throttle with motor body assembly components. The following procedure should also be performed if the throttle with motor body assembly is cleaned.


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON without operating the accelerator pedal.

      Note

      If the accelerator pedal is operated, perform the above step again.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs Click here.

    3. Perform the "Inspection After Repairs" Click here.

    4. Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated and that the idle speed is within the specified range when the A/C is switched off after the engine is warmed up.

      Standard (for CVT)
      Condition Engine Idle Speed
      A/C switched off 600 to 700 rpm
      Standard (for Manual Transaxle)
      Condition Engine Idle Speed
      A/C switched off 550 to 650 rpm

      Tech Tips


      • Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off.

      • Make sure that the shift lever is in P or neutral.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Throttle Pos. Sensor Output. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or more.

    6. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.
