PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (STARTER SIGNAL)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Starter Signal.

    5. Check the result when the ignition switch is turned ON and the engine starts.

  2. INSPECT INTELLIGENT TESTER (STARTER SIGNAL)


    1. Disconnect the engine stop and start ECU or power management control ECU connector.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Turn the tester on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Starter Signal.

    6. Check the result when the ignition switch is turned ON and the engine starts.

  3. INSPECT CLUTCH START SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Inspect the clutch start switch assembly Click here.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY - CLUTCH START SWITCH)


    1. Disconnect the smart key ECU assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the clutch start switch assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F65-5 (STAR) - A39-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F65-5 (STAR) or A39-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the smart key ECU assembly connector.

    5. Reconnect the clutch start switch assembly connector.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CLUTCH START SWITCH - ECM - ST RELAY)


    1. Remove the ST relay.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Disconnect the clutch start switch assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      ST relay terminal 2 - A58-22 (STA) Always Below 1 Ω
      ST relay terminal 2 - A39-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A58-22 (STA) or A39-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the clutch start switch assembly connector.

    6. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    7. Reinstall the ST relay connector.

  6. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the park/neutral position switch assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      4 (B) - 9 (L) Shift position P, N Below 1 Ω
      Shift position not P, N 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Reinstall the park/neutral position switch assembly.

  7. CHECK AND REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH)


    1. Disconnect the smart key ECU assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F65-5 (STAR) - B69-4 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F65-5 (STAR) or B69-4 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the smart key ECU assembly connector.

    5. Reconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM - ST RELAY)


    1. Remove the ST relay.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      ST relay terminal 2 - A58-22 (STA) Always Below 1 Ω
      ST relay terminal 2 - B69-9 (L) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A58-22 (STA) or B69-9 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    6. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    7. Install the ST relay.

  9. CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (CLUTCH START SWITCH - ECM - ST RELAY)


    1. Remove the ST relay.

    2. Disconnect the clutch start switch assembly connector.

    3. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      ST relay terminal 2 - A58-22 (STA) Always Below 1 Ω
      ST relay terminal 2 - A39-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A58-22 (STA) or A39-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    6. Reconnect the clutch start switch assembly connector.

    7. Reinstall the ST relay.

    1. Remove the ST relay.

    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    3. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      ST relay terminal 2 - A58-22 (STA) Always Below 1 Ω
      ST relay terminal 2 - B69-9 (L) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A58-22 (STA) or B69-9 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.
