SFI SYSTEM Fuel Injector Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The fuel injectors are located on the intake manifold. They inject fuel into the cylinders based on the signals from the ECM.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT

      (to Fuel Injector Assembly)

      Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B5-2 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B7-2 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B9-2 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B11-2 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    4. Reconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

  2. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR (INJECTION AND VOLUME)


    1. Check the fuel injector injection and volume Click here.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      for RHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B5-1 - B23-20 (#10) Always Below 1 Ω
      B7-1 - B23-17 (#20) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-1 - B23-18 (#30) Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-1 - B23-19 (#40) Always Below 1 Ω
      for LHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B5-1 - B22-20 (#10) Always Below 1 Ω
      B7-1 - B22-17 (#20) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-1 - B22-18 (#30) Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-1 - B22-19 (#40) Always Below 1 Ω

      for RHD

      B5-1 or B23-20 (#10) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B7-1 or B23-17 (#20) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B9-1 or B23-18 (#30) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B11-1 or B23-19 (#40) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      for LHD

    4. Reconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY - FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

    2. Remove the No. 1 integration relay from the engine room main relay block.

    3. Disconnect the No. 1 integration relay connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B5-2 - 1E-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      B7-2 - 1E-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-2 - 1E-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-2 - 1E-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B5-2 or 1E-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B7-2 or 1E-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B9-2 or 1E-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B11-2 or 1E-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

    6. Reinstall the No. 1 integration relay.
