WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM(w/ Rain Sensor) Front Wiper Motor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The windshield wiper relay assembly controls the windshield wiper motor assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. for LHD:


      1. Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly Click here.

        Component without harness connected

        (Windshield Wiper Motor Assembly)

        Check LO operation.

        Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 5 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 4 (E), and check that the motor operates at low speed (LO).

        OK
        Motor operates at low speed (LO).
      3. Check HI operation.

        Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 3 (+2) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 4 (E), and check that the motor operates at high speed (HI).

        OK
        Motor operates at high speed (HI).
    2. for RHD:


      1. Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly Click here.

        Check LO operation.

        Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates at low speed (LO).

        OK

      3. Check HI operation.

        Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 4 (+2) and a negative (-) lead to terminal 5 (E), and check that the motor operates at high speed (HI).

        Motor operates at high speed (HI).

        Disconnect the A15 windshield wiper motor connector.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        A15-2 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        A15-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

        Disconnect the A15 windshield wiper motor connector.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR - WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH AND RELAY)


    1. for LHD:


      1. Disconnect the F12 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

      2. Disconnect the F72 windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        F12-3 (+1) - A15-5 (+1) Always Below 1 Ω
        F12-4 (+2) - A15-3 (+2) Always Below 1 Ω
        F72-11 (+2) - A15-3 (+2) Always Below 1 Ω
        F12-4 (+2) - F72-11 (+2) Always Below 1 Ω
        F72-1 (+SM) - A15-1 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω
        F12-1 (+S) - F72-10 (+1) Always Below 1 Ω
        Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

        A15-5 (+1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    2. for RHD


      1. Disconnect the F12 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

      2. Disconnect the F72 windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

        F12-3 (+1) - A15-1 (+1) Always Below 1 Ω
        F12-4 (+2) - A15-4 (+2) Always Below 1 Ω

        F72-1 (+SM) - A15-3 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω
