PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM PRELIMINARY INSPECTION

   
   

   1. Check for clogs in the air filter (when not using the GTS).

      
      

      1. Start the engine.

      2. Warm up the engine.

      3. Allow the engine to idle after the engine has warmed up.

      4. After 15 minutes, open the fuel tank cap to discharge the pressure in the fuel tank.

      5. Close the fuel tank cap and allow the engine to idle for 30 seconds.

      6. 

         Open the fuel tank cap again and check for inhalation sounds.

         OK
         No whooshing sounds (inhalation sounds) are heard.

         Tech Tips

         If gasoline can be smelled and a whooshing sound (exhalation sound) is heard, positive pressure in the fuel tank is being discharged. This does not indicate a malfunction.

   2. Check for clogs in the air filter (when using the GTS).

      
      

      1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      2. Start the engine.

      3. Turn the GTS on.

      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Activate the VSV for Evap Control.

         
         Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test

         Tester Display
         Activate the VSV for Evap Control

      5. Open the fuel tank cap to discharge the pressure in the fuel tank.

      6. Perform the "Activate the VSV for Evap Control" Active Test while the engine is idling.

      7. Close the fuel tank cap and allow the engine to idle for 30 seconds.

      8. Open the fuel tank cap again and check for inhalation sounds.

         Standard
         No whooshing sounds (inhalation sounds) are heard.

         Tech Tips
