B1635/24 Rear Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The side collision sensor LH circuit (to determine deployment of the front seat airbag assembly LH, curtain shield airbag assembly LH, front seat outer belt assembly LH and rear seat outer belt assembly LH*) is composed of the airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor assembly LH and No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH.

The No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.

DTC B1635/24 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK NO. 2 SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH

      Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Interchange the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    5. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory Click here.

    7. Turn the power switch off.

    8. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs Click here.

      Tech Tips

      Codes other than DTCs B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    10. Turn the power switch off.

    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    12. Return the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors.
