EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE COWL BODY MOUNTING REINFORCEMENT LH (for LHD)

      Remove the 3 bolts and cowl body mounting reinforcement LH.

  3. REMOVE COWL BODY MOUNTING REINFORCEMENT LH (for RHD)


    1. A003UFL

      Remove the 3 bolts and cowl body mounting reinforcement LH.

  4. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL (for LHD)

      *1 No. 1 Heater Air Duct Splash Shield Seal
      *2 Water Guard Plate RH

      Disengage each claw of the No. 1 heater air duct splash shield seal and water guard plate RH, and bend them.

    2. A003SJJ

      Disengage the clamp and separate the wire harness.

    3. Remove the 8 bolts, nut and outer cowl top panel.

  5. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL (for RHD)

      *2 No. 1 Heater Air Duct Splash Shield Seal

      Disengage each claw of the water guard plate RH and No. 1 heater air duct splash shield seal, and bend them.

    2. A003UWL

      Disengage the clamp and separate the wire harness.

    3. Remove the 8 bolts, nut and outer cowl top panel.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  7. REMOVE CENTER NO. 4 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

      Remove the 4 clips and No. 2 engine under cover.

  9. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE

      Remove the 4 bolts and front center floor brace.

  10. DRAIN COOLANT (for Engine with Exhaust Heat Recirculation System)

    Note

    Do not remove the reservoir tank cap and radiator drain cock plug while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.


    1. Remove the reservoir tank cap.

    2. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug and drain the coolant.

      Tech Tips

      Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the local regulations.

  11. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (w/ Exhaust Heat Recirculation System)


    1. A003UDL

      Disconnect the 3 clamps and oxygen sensor connector.

    2. A003UGJ

      Disconnect the 2 heater water hoses.

    3. A003SMB

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 compression springs.

    4. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly from the 3 exhaust pipe supports.

    5. Remove the 2 gaskets from the front exhaust pipe assembly and exhaust manifold.

  12. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (w/o Exhaust Heat Recirculation System)


    1. A003SMB

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 compression springs.

    2. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly from the 3 exhaust pipe supports.

    3. Remove the 2 gaskets from the front exhaust pipe assembly and exhaust manifold.

  13. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR

      Remove the 3 nuts and No. 1 floor heat insulator.

  14. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR


    1. A003RW8

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator.

  15. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR


    1. A003U20

      Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector and clamp.

    2. A003URHE02

      Using SST, remove the air fuel ratio sensor.

  16. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY


    1. A003UHT

      Remove the 3 bolts and manifold stay.

  17. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD


    1. A003RGD

      Remove the 7 nuts, exhaust manifold and 2 gaskets.

  18. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR


    1. A003USO

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator.
