DESCRIPTION

The headlight leveling ECU assembly actuates the headlight leveling motor according to vehicle conditions.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / HL Auto Leveling / Active Test.

    5. Check that the relay operates.

      HL Auto Leveling
      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Drive The Leveling Motor UP*1 Leveling motor upward operation ON/OFF

      ON: Moves up

      OFF: Stops
      Drive The Leveling Motor DOWN*1 Leveling motor downward operation ON/OFF

      ON: Moves down

      OFF: Stops

      • *1: Perform the active test with the power switch on (READY) and vehicle stopped.

      OK
      Leveling motor operates.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR - HEADLIGHT LEVELING ECU ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the A35 headlight leveling ECU assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the A71 or A74 headlight leveling motor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      A35-18 (LH+) - A71-2 (LHM+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A35-11 (LHT) - A71-1 (LHT) Always Below 1 Ω
      A35-24 (LH-) - A71-3 (LHE) Always Below 1 Ω
      A35-18 (LH+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A35-11 (LHT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A35-24 (LH-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      A35-17 (RH+) - A74-2 (RHM+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A35-10 (RHT) - A74-1 (RHT) Always Below 1 Ω

  3. REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT (HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR)


    1. Replace the headlight unit (headlight leveling motor) with a new or known good one Click here.

    2. Perform the active test of the leveling motors.

      OK
      Headlight leveling motors operate normally.
