BACK DOOR SUPPORT INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL BACK DOOR UPPER DAMPER STAY BRACKET


    1. Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.

    2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the 2 bolts.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
    3. Install the back door upper damper stay bracket with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.0 N*m  { 71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf }
  2. INSTALL BACK DOOR STAY BOLT


    1. When replacing the back door stay bolt with a new one:


      1. Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.

      2. Install the back door stay bolt.

        Torque:
        22 N*m  { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }
    2. When reusing the back door stay bolt:


      1. Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.

      2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the back door stay bolt.

        Adhesive
        Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
      3. Install the back door stay bolt.

        Torque:
        22 N*m  { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }
  3. INSTALL BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY

    Note


    • Avoid touching the stroke portions of the rod as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from attaching to the stroke portions. Be sure to hold the cylinders while servicing.

    • Do not wear cotton gloves or other similar materials when handling the rod. Fibers may attach to the rod and result in gas leaks.

    • Do not apply any load to the cylinders in the horizontal direction in order to prevent the rod from being deformed.


    1. Install the stop ring to the back door stay assembly.

    2. Install the back door stay assembly.

      Note

      Install the back door stay assembly while supporting the back door by hand.

    3. Check that the hood support assembly is engaged in the ball joint and that the hood support assembly cannot be pulled out.
