BACK DOOR GLASS INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL NO. 1 BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER

      Apply Primer G to the installation part of the No. 1 back door glass spacer.

      Tech Tips

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

    2. Install a new spacer onto the glass as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

  2. INSTALL NO. 2 BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER

      Apply Primer G to the installation part of the No. 2 back door glass spacer.

      Tech Tips

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

    2. Install a new spacer onto the glass as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

  3. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS OUTSIDE MOULDING


    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of the back door glass outside moulding with Primer G.

      Note


      • Do not apply too much primer.

      • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.

      Tech Tips

      If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

    2. Install a new back door glass outside moulding as shown in the illustration.

  4. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS LOWER MOULDING


    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of the back door glass lower moulding with Primer G.

      Note


      • Do not apply too much primer.

      • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.

      Tech Tips

      If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

    2. Install a new back window lower moulding onto the back door glass lower moulding, as shown in the illustration.

  5. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER


    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of the back door glass spacer with Primer G.

      Note


      • Do not apply too much primer.

      • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.

      Tech Tips

      If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

    2. Install 2 new spacers onto the back door glass.

  6. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS

      Using a brush, coat the installation surface on the vehicle body with Primer M.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Do not apply primer to the adhesive.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

      If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

    2. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of the adhesive with Primer G.

    3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

      1. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration below.

        Tech Tips

        After cutting off the tip, use all the adhesive within the time written in the table below.

      2. Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.

      3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the back window glass.

        Using a suction cup, position the back window glass so that the matchmarks are aligned, and press it in gently along the rim.

        Note


        • Check that the back window glass spacers are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

        • Check the clearance between the vehicle body and back window glass.

      2. Lightly press the front surface of the back door glass to ensure that the back door glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.

        Tech Tips

        Press the back window glass with a force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) or more.

      3. A003SGP

        Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

        Tech Tips

        Apply adhesive onto the glass rim.

        Note

        Do not drive the vehicle within the time written in the table below.

        Install the defogger wire with connecting the 2 connectors.

  7. INSPECT FOR LEAK AND REPAIR


    1. After the adhesive has hardened, apply water from the outside of the vehicle. Check that no water leaks into the cabin.

    2. If water leaks into the cabin, allow the water to dry and add adhesive.

    3. Remove the protective tape.

  8. INSTALL REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the 4 new gaskets to the rear spoiler sub-assembly.

    2. Engage the 3 clips and install the rear spoiler sub-assembly.

    3. Install the 4 nuts and 2 grommets.

  9. INSTALL REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

      Install the rear wiper motor assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }
    2. Connect the connector.

  10. INSTALL REAR WIPER MOTOR GROMMET

      *1 MP grease

      Apply MP grease to the entire surface of the wiper motor grommet lip.

      Tech Tips

      Make sure that the hole does not get clogged with grease and the grooves on the lip are filled with grease.

    2. Install the wiper motor grommet.

  11. INSTALL REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY


    1. Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

    2. Clean the wiper arm serrations.

    3. When reinstalling:

        Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

      Install the arm and blade with the nut. Make sure that the arm and blade comes to the position shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

      Tech Tips


      • Hold down the arm hinge by hand while tightening the nut.

      • Install the arm and blade so that the rear wiper blade is aligned with the ceramic line.

  12. INSTALL REAR WIPER ARM HEAD CAP

      Install the rear wiper arm head cap.

      Tech Tips

      Push down on the cap until a click sound can be heard.

    2. Operate the rear wiper while spraying washer fluid on the glass. Make sure that the rear wiper functions properly and there is no interference with the vehicle body.

  13. INSTALL BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY

      Engage the 11 clips and install the back door trim panel assembly.

    2. Install the clip (A).

  14. INSTALL BACK DOOR INSIDE HANDLE

      Engage the 4 claws and install the back door inside handle.

  15. INSTALL BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH

      Engage the clip and claw, and install the back door side garnish LH.

      Align the guide with the cutout, engage the 2 claws, and install the package tray trim garnish hook.

      Engage the pin.

  16. INSTALL BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

  17. INSTALL CENTER STOP LIGHT SET


    1. Engage the 2 clips.

    2. Install the center stop light set with the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      3.2 N*m  { 33 kgf*cm, 28 in.*lbf }
    3. Connect the connector.

  18. INSTALL BACK DOOR UPPER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY

      Engage the 6 clips and 4 claws, and install the back door upper trim panel assembly.
